About Jerry
LOCAL KID
From a young age, Jerry Larsen knew he wanted to serve and protect the community he loved. When his parents moved to East Hampton to farm, Jerry fell in love with the East End and the people who called it home. Driven by a sense of duty and community pride, he joined the East Hampton Village Police Department, beginning what would become a 34-year career in public service. Jerry’s early years on the force were shaped by hard work, integrity, and compassion for others—principles that continue to guide him in every role he’s taken since.
TOP COP
From the moment he joined the East Hampton Village Police Department, Jerry Larsen stood out as a dedicated young officer with uncommon drive. He quickly earned a reputation for sharp instincts, sound judgment, and an ability to connect with the community he served.
His work ethic set him apart, and his results spoke even louder. Jerry became one of the most decorated officers in Village history,
earning four (4) Top Cop Awards in 1986, 1990, 1991, and 1992
for solving major cases and demonstrating exceptional leadership. His rapid rise through the ranks reflected not only talent but a deep commitment to protecting East Hampton.
Detective Larsen
As a young detective, Jerry earned a reputation for stepping into the most challenging, most complex cases — the ones that demanded sharp instincts, steady leadership, and focus. Whether pursuing major criminal investigations or unraveling cases, Detective Larsen approached every challenge with determination.
His ability to manage high-pressure situations, coordinate multi-agency efforts, and bring justice to victims made him one of the most trusted investigators locally. Jerry didn’t shy away from significant cases — he sought them out — and his success cemented his standing as a rising leader in the department.
Chief of police
In 2004, Jerry Larsen made history when he was appointed the youngest Police Chief in New York State, leading the East Hampton Village Police Department for 14 years. Over his 34 years of service, he modernized the department, improved training standards, and built strong community partnerships. Chief Larsen was known for leading by example—never asking anyone to do something he wouldn’t do himself. His leadership emphasized accountability, teamwork, and respect. Under his command, East Hampton Village became a model for small-town policing built on trust, transparency, and a shared commitment to public safety.
FAMILY BUSINESS
As a small business owner, Jerry understands what it takes to keep our local economy thriving and how important it is to support working families and year-round businesses. Jerry and his wife Lisa founded ProTec Security, a locally owned business that now serves nearly 1,000 clients across the East End. With a small team of 10 employees, Jerry knows firsthand the challenges of running a local business—meeting payroll, navigating regulations, and keeping customers satisfied. ProTec’s success comes from the same principles that defined Jerry’s public service: reliability, honesty, and hard work.
ELECTED
In 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 global pandemic, when uncertainty touched every home and community, East Hampton Village voters overwhelmingly chose experience, steadiness, and leadership. Jerry Larsen won a landslide election against what many called the “Village of No,” offering a hopeful, forward-looking vision at a moment when people needed it most. As daily life was upended and fear spread worldwide, Jerry stepped forward to lead with clarity, compassion, and competence. His promise was simple: restore collaboration, strengthen services, and rebuild the community spirit that defines East Hampton. Voters trusted him—and he delivered.
Mayor Larsen
As Mayor, Jerry Larsen has worked tirelessly to build “One Community” in East Hampton—restoring the sense of connection, joy, and togetherness that defines a strong Village. He created or expanded beloved programs like the Farmers Market, Tuesdays at Main Beach, the MayDay5K, Family Night Block Party, and SantaFest, each designed to bring residents of all ages together. These events have rekindled civic pride and made the Village feel like a true hometown again. Through thoughtful leadership and smart fiscal management, Jerry has transformed East Hampton into a community that not only functions well—but celebrates, unites, and thrives together.

ISSUES
why i'm running...
Issue 1: Mismanagement
East Hampton deserves leadership that plans, executes, and delivers. Instead, the Town has fallen into a pattern of poor planning, stalled projects, and inefficient use of taxpayer resources.
Critical initiatives — from housing to capital improvements — have been delayed for years, leaving residents frustrated and services strained. Town-owned homes sit abandoned, lots remain undeveloped, and major projects lack clear timelines or oversight. This isn’t about politics; it’s about competence.
Jerry Larsen is running because East Hampton needs experienced leadership that manages budgets responsibly, drives projects forward, and restores accountability to Town Hall. Mismanagement has gone on long enough.
Issue 2: Housing Crisis
East Hampton is facing a housing crisis that threatens the fabric of our community. Teachers, first responders, young families, and lifelong residents are being pushed out because there are simply not enough homes they can afford. Meanwhile, Town-owned properties sit vacant or abandoned, and major housing initiatives have stalled for years.
This is not a lack of opportunity — it’s a lack of leadership and follow-through. Jerry Larsen believes in building real housing for real families by putting existing assets to work, fast-tracking responsible projects, and ensuring transparency every step of the way. East Hampton needs action, not excuses.
Issue 3: Rising Taxes
Rising taxes are squeezing East Hampton families while basic services stagnate and major projects stall. Despite years of promises, residents are paying more and getting less — a direct result of poor financial oversight and weak long-term planning. Waste, delays, and mismanagement have driven costs up across the board, placing an unfair burden on working families, seniors, and local businesses.
As Mayor, Jerry Larsen delivered three consecutive years of historic tax cuts while improving services and investing in infrastructure. He knows how to manage budgets responsibly. As Town Supervisor, Jerry will restore fiscal discipline and put taxpayers first.
Issue 4: Waste of Taxpayer Funds
East Hampton taxpayers deserve responsible budgeting — yet millions of dollars have been tied up in projects that stall, disappear, or were never needed in the first place. From costly designs that are abandoned before completion to new initiatives launched without community input or a realistic plan, Town Hall has allowed wasteful spending to become routine.
These missteps drain resources that should be used to fix roads, support local families, and build long-promised housing. Jerry Larsen believes every dollar must have a purpose, a timeline, and accountability. Under his leadership, taxpayer money will be protected — not squandered.
Issue 5: The New GFA Law Hurts Local Families
The Town’s new Gross Floor Area (GFA) law was rushed through without proper community input, and local families are paying the price. Instead of targeting oversized luxury homes, the law restricts modest expansions that working families need — an extra bedroom, accessible living space for aging parents, or room for a growing household.
This one-size-fits-all approach ignores the realities of year-round residents and punishes the very people who keep East Hampton running. Jerry Larsen believes zoning should support families, not restrict them. As Supervisor, he’ll fix the GFA law to protect neighborhoods while keeping East Hampton livable for all.
Issue 6: Town Personnel Issues
The Town of East Hampton is facing serious personnel challenges — unfilled positions, low morale, high turnover, and departments struggling without clear leadership or accountability. Critical services are slowed by understaffing, while qualified employees leave due to lack of support and direction. Residents feel the impact every day: delayed permits, inconsistent communication, and reduced efficiency across Town Hall.
Strong management starts with valuing and empowering the people who do the work. Jerry Larsen has a proven record of building effective teams, improving morale, and holding departments accountable. As Supervisor, he will stabilize staffing, restore professionalism, and ensure residents get the service they deserve.
Issue 7: Who Manages the Town?
In her first actions as Supervisor, Kathee Burke-Gonzalez shifted core responsibilities of the office outward instead of leading from the front. She created a new Town Administrator position — adding more than $100,000 in salary costs — to take on duties traditionally handled by the Supervisor. She then added a Public Information Officer, a role historically fulfilled by the Supervisor as well, at an additional $110,000.
While costs rise and services lag, residents are left wondering who is actually managing the Town. Jerry Larsen believes leadership shouldn’t be outsourced. As Supervisor, he will take responsibility — and deliver results.
Issue 8: Waste of Funds — Litigation
Under current leadership, the Town of East Hampton has become increasingly litigious, spending enormous sums fighting lawsuits instead of solving problems. Ongoing legal battles involving the Maidstone Gun Club, East Hampton Fire Department, the Airport, Truck Beach, and more have drained resources that should be helping local families. Too often, conflict replaces consensus, and taxpayers are left footing the bill.
By contrast, one of Jerry Larsen’s first actions as Village Mayor was to reduce lawsuits, lower legal costs, and redirect funds toward parks, programs, infrastructure, and community needs. As Supervisor, Jerry will prioritize solutions over lawsuits — unity over division.
